The monastery today

This monastery of nuns, founded in 1974 in an ancient 12th-century Carthusian monastery in the Chartreuse massif in the Dauphiné, has been blessed with a long tradition of prayer, aided by the silence and rugged beauty of the site. It offers the possibility of a retreat in solitude according to the life wisdom of Saint Bruno. It is sometimes open to groups.

Surrounded by sheer cliffs, the Monastery N-D du Buisson ardent invites you to turn your gaze skywards. It takes its biblical name from the frequent sunsets that set the rocky walls of the massif ablaze.

Its environment is full of seasonal contrasts: the long months of dazzling snow are followed by the freshness of spring greens and the blossoming of a profusion of brilliantly coloured flowers, then at the end of summer the forest of varied deciduous trees takes on fiery colours like a blaze of fire.

Hiking is possible in the vicinity of the Monastery N-D du Buisson ardent. The Chartreuse mountain is particularly dangerous, so precautions should be taken.
