In response to a call from the Church, the Monastery Notre-Dame du Torrent de Vie was established in 1978 in the heart of the garrigue of Provence, close to the famous Romanesque abbey of Le Thoronet, in order to re-establish a monastic presence there. The monastery church was built using ancient techniques and local red mud bricks. It was consecrated in 2007. The nuns meet here twice a day for the liturgical celebrations of Matins, Vespers and the Eucharist. Tribunes allow guests or pilgrims passing through to take part in the liturgical services, or simply to come and meditate at any time of day. A cloister of hermitages currently houses 18 nuns who lead a life of prayer and work in truly solitary conditions. Monastère Notre-Dame du Torrent de Vie
