The Order of the Most Holy Redeemer was founded on the feast of Pentecost, the 13th May, 1731, at Scala in the kingdom of Naples, under the influence of the Venerable Mother Marie-Céléste Crostarosa who wrote the Rule, in collaboration with Saint Alphonsus of Liguori, who in founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer in 1732.

In the 19th Century, the Order spread in Europe, first of all to Vienna in Austria from where it expanded to five continents during the 20th century :

  • Asia-Oceania : 9
  • Africa : 2

The Redemptoristine is called by the Father to be
a living Memorial of the Redeemer
in the Church and in the world today.
