Bathed in the light of the Drôme Provencal, amidst the vines and the lavender, at the foot of the massif of Lance, the monastery of La Clarté Notre-Dame at Taulignan is situated in the diocese of Valence, 35 km from Montelimar, equidistant from Lyon, Marseilles and Montpellier. We are responsible for the administration of the Catholic Archives of the Diocese of Oran (Algeria). Growing aromatic plants and our small distillery enable us to produce sachets of lavender, herbal teas and essential oils…. The community welcomes with pleasure anyone wishing to replenish his or her strength, to pray, to study and take time out to live in the peace of the countryside. Those who wish can participate in the liturgical prayer (in French) or help in the garden. Out of respect for the environment, we have begun the organic farming of aromatic plants on a plot of four hectares : lavender, lavandin, rosemary, lemon balm, thyme, mountain savoury, verbena, marjoram, hyssop etc. The future of man and the earth concerns us; we raise up to the Lord a prayer of thanksgiving for the gift of his creation. “Oh Lord, You once favoured this land”. (Ps 84.2) Monastère de La Clarté Notre-DameThe Monastery Today
Joyfully, the sisters lead a life of prayer, work, study of the Word of God, of fraternal sharing, lived with a certain withdrawal, but at the same time, open to the world, to the Church and the Order of Preachers.
We welcome up to 20 people for stays of 2 to 7 days, in a spirit of simplicity and Dominican conviviality. Some Special features of Our Monastery
